PGA Tour Championship

The curtain comes down on another great season on PGA with the PGA Tour Championship this week. The culmination of the FedEx Cup, a small but elite field - now trimmed to just 30 - head out to fight it out for the title.

The allocation of points means that it's highly likely that the winner of the event will take down the FedEx Cup, but it's not a certainty, and one or two of the players would need some funny combinations to pick up the outright trophy.

Anyway, we're betting on who wins this weekend, so it matters not - we're only interested in who would be a good fit here.

Held at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, you're typically looking for a player who can keep it pretty straight off the tee, and who can then convert that into a good Greens in Regulation performance. Get that right and you're in with a decent chance of finding a winner. While last year's winner Rory McIlroy put in some impressive yardage off the tee, that's certainly not been a regular requirement over the years, and should probably be ignored. In fact, only one winner in 17 years has ranked outside the top 10 GIRs at the event!

So where is our money going?

Let's start with Justin Rose who is chalked up as a 16/1 shot. The Englishman has great previous form here, with figures of 2-4-6-2 on his last four visits - he wasn't here last season. He also finished 2nd in the BMW Championship, and before that posted a brace of 10th places, so is defintiely in good enough form against some of the best players. An added bonus is his previous form on similar courses in the Wyndham event, and when winning the AT&T on a very similar track.

Keeping it nice and patriotic, we'll also chuck a dart at Paul Casey, who finished 5th here in 2016 and 4th in 2015. He's another who has been playing well at the business end of the season with a fifth place in the Northern Trust and a share of 4th in the Dell Technologies Championship. His most recent results actually read 33-4-5-13-5-11-5-26-10-22-12-6. 18/1 looks a fair price on the the Englishman.

1pt ew Justin Rose at 16/1 (BetFred 1/4 1,2,3,4)

1pt ew Paul Casey at 18/1 (SkyBet 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6)
