World Championships Day 9 - Afternoon Session
Friday sees the best day of action yet down at the Ally Pally, with Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen both stepping to the oche, as well as Mensur Suljovic, Vincent van der Voort and Ian White amongst others. Here we preview the best bets during the afternoon session.
Gerwyn Price v Ian White
Neither player will hold too much expectation of going deep into this tournament with Michael van Gerwen likely to meet the winner in the 3rd round, but this is likely to be a very close battle given the pair were split by just one place in the Order of Merit and the bookies agree, making Gerwyn Price their marginal 4/5 favourite, with Ian White available at 11/10.

Instead the 180’s market probably holds the best bet, with White offered at 5/6 to out score Price on the maximum front. White hits around 0.29 180’s per leg on average, while Price is a good bit lower at around 0.21. With very little to split the pair in leg winning ability, there is a reasonable prospect of a long match which should see White stretch his legs in the most 180s battle.
We also like the look of the match being won on a Red double with William Hill. Price is the slight favourite, and he has a complete aversion to touching the double 16, always opting to tee up double 20 for his check-outs. He actually checks out 60% of his legs on either d20 or d10. White is a similar prospect, so whoever wins this, we should get a good run for our money on this bet. It’s only 4/9, but should arguably be more 1/3. We will look to put it in a double.
1.5pts White to hit more 180s than Price at 5/6
Jan Dekker v Dimitri Van den Bergh
Here we have two men who upset seeds in the first round and they play for the chance to meet either Mensur Suljovic or Robert Thornton. The bet which immediately pops out is for the match to be won on a green double. Both players tend to set-up d16 for their finishes at any opportunity, and crucially both have a good record on it - Dekker would expect to finish around 30% of his winning legs on it, with van den Bergh slightly lower than that. It’s enough that the odds on double 16 being the match winning outcome at 10/3 has edged into value with BetFred, while the Green finish is also decent enough at 7/4 with WillHill - we make it closer to 11/8 in this one given the players finish preference.
1pt Match Winning Double to be d16 at 10/3 (Betfred)
1pt Match Winning Colour to be Green at 7/4 (Will Hill)
1pt 1st Leg Winning Colour to be Green at 7/4 (General)
1pt Double - Price v White match won on Red, Dekker v van den Bergh won on Green - 3/1 William Hill or BetFred
