World Darts Championships - Day 13

We'll keep things brief here, as the crowds are already filing into the Ally Pally.

Raymond van Barneveld is being under valued in the 180s market in being priced at 4/1 to hit more 180s than Michael van Gerwen. Barney has hit 15 maximums so far in the tournament from 49 legs (and a further 50 140s). That compares pretty closely to MvG who has struck 20 in 53 legs (and 42 140s). So Barney is hitting at a rate of 0.31 180s per leg, while MvG is up at 0.37.

There isnt a large enough difference there to justify MvG being a 2/5 in that market, and we'll chuck a speculative point at Barney coming out on top in that particular battle.

In the Taylor v Anderson match, it will be another small 180s bet, and this time we fancy Anderson to strike first. He's hit 18 so far this tournament and his game is all about big scoring and then worry about doubling out at the end. Taylor is far more likely to switch away to the 19s, so we should expect a much stronger hit rate from Anderson.

Rather than backing Anderson hitting more 180s at the short odds (he's just 2/5), we'll back him to hit the first of the match - we make it closer to 8/15, so the 7/10 on offer with Sporting Bet is more than fair - especially as he's very likely to be throwing first given Taylor will usually hand the darts to his opponent for the first set.
