Bolton v Bristol City

It's a pretty important match for both sides when Bolton and Bristol City meet at the Macron Stadium on Friday night, but for very different reasons.

Bolton look a transformed side lately under Phil Parkinson, and he's got them playing neat football now - a big improvement on the cobbled together bunch of journeymen he assembled at the start of the season.

Bristol City are just three points behind 2nd placed Derby and five points ahead of 7th place Sheffield United. Their season could still feasilbly end with automatic promotion, but they could equally miss the play-offs altogether.

In terms of team news, Zach Clough looks likely to begin his second spell at Bolton after rejoining the club on deadline day, but Aaron Wilbraham and David Wheater could both miss out. They could also feature Reede Burke and Jon Flanagan who both joined from Premier League sides on loan and look good signings. Top Scorer Gary Madine has joined Cardiff for their final push at promotion.

Key man Nathan Baker is out for Bristol City, along with Matty Taylor.

We reckon a tense, nervous affair could be on the cards here, with Lee Johnson speaking ahead of the match of his concerns for how difficult a well-organised Bolton could make things for the Robins.

They've certainly sorted things out at the back, conceeding just six goals in their last seven league matches now, while Bristol City won't be oozing confidence given they've won just once in eight now. That run has seen them fail to score against Derby, Norwich, Watford and Aston Villa, so they aren't firing on all cylinders.

With a number of new signings available, Parkinson will send his side out with a simple message of keeping things simple, keeping things tight, and hoping to nick an opportunity if one appears. With this in mind we'll back low goals.
