Monaco GP

Unlike other Grand Prix' Monaco have their first practice on Thursdays - allowing the bank holiday traffic to come in and out of the principality. That's good and bad news. The good news is it gives us a little time to evaluate P1 and P2 running. The bad news is that we fancied the Red Bull's to turn their final sector performances in Spain into some competitive times this weekend, but hadn't quite got round to getting stuck into the prices.

Nevertheless, the odds on Daniel Ricciardo, now with the benefit of some confirmed running numbers, remain appealing. Looking at sector three times from Barcelona is always a good clue to how teams will show up in Monaco, and the Red Bulls dominated that particular timing window throughout practice, qualifying and the race a fortnight ago. They should be well primed.

Ricciardo confirmed that on Thursday by topping both sessions, and whilst his odds have dropped to 5/2 with William Hill now, they definitely appeal against his less experienced and more erratic team-mate Max Verstappen. The Dutchman is incredible, but his aggressive style could see him come unstuck here this weekend and we'd prefer to be with the measured but pacey Aussie, who would already have one Monaco win under his belt were it not for an unfortunate pit error a couple of years back.

The 8/11 on a Red Bull winning this also looks appealing with Sky Bet as a back-up.

Another man who has enjoyed Monaco in recent years is Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard has qualified inside the top eight in each of the last three years, improving from 8th in 2015, to 7th in 2016, and 6th in 2017. That has been done in a car which didn't have any right to allow that, so he's clearly got this track by the short and curlies. Overall performance isn't essential for success here, and Sainz has to be backed to take advantage of that factor. Add in his 2018 record of reaching Q3 in each of his starts and you've got a good bet in the offing.

3pts Daniel Ricciardo to win the Monaco GP at 5/2 at Will Hill

1pt Carlos Sainz to finish in the Top 6 at 13/10 Sporting Bet

1.1pts Red Bull to win the race at 8/11 SkyBet
