Tottenham v Newcastle

Mauricio Pochettino will do without Tanguy Ndombele this weekend, but his Spurs sides should still have enough to get past Newcastle comfortably.

They should be an altogether stronger proposition right now than they were last season. While Trippier has left, they have a fit Kane (and looking sharp) and Eriksen looks set to stay with the side.

Spurs won 10/10 matches against bottom half sides last season, scoring 23 goals and conceding just 3. They looked formidable against all but the best sides, and Newcastle of 2019/20 definitely fall into that bucket. Only West Ham have managed fewer shots on target (joint 5), and it's hard to see how the Newcastle players will pick themselves up quickly after being completely outclassed at Carrow Road a week ago.

Coming back to Spurs, some reports suggested they were lucky to beat Aston Villa on the opening weekend, but the reality is they threw the kitchen sink at the recently promoted side, and more than deserved their win. The fact that the goals came late was simply how things played out.

The hosts should win this one with something to spare, and we're backing them on the handicap to win this one. You can get 1.88 on the exchanges on the -1.5 goals market, which looks plenty big enough.

2pts Tottenham (-1.5 goals) to beat Newcastle at 1.88
